I grew up in Regina, and over the years I’ve learned that this city holds so much beauty if you take the time to really look for it. Right now, family means unconditional support — it’s just me and my son, and he is my whole world. I’m incredibly lucky to call him my best friend, and even though he’s going through a hard time, his resilience inspires me every day. We are both working toward sobriety and searching for stable housing, doing our best to keep moving forward even when things feel uncertain. I’ve been maintaining my sobriety for over a month now and am waiting for a spot in a treatment centre, and I’m proud of the person I am becoming. More than anything, I want to lead by example and show my son that health, healing, and hope are possible. This Christmas, I’m holding onto the belief that brighter days are ahead for both of us.
