I grew up on my reserve, and throughout Saskatoon and Yorkton, and I moved to Regina at 30 after fleeing an abusive relationship. Regina has become home to me — it’s familiar, welcoming, and cozy in a way I never expected. Family means everything right now; it’s about supporting each other, staying honest, and raising my kids to have integrity. I’ve always had a full home with many children in my care, and each one brings their own personality — from the old souls and caretakers to the playful, sensitive, responsible, and energetic little ones who make our house lively and full of love. One of our challenges is helping the older kids find employment and staying stable as a family. My hope for the future is to start a home-based business and travel together, creating new memories after everything we’ve been through. I’m incredibly grateful for the support we’ve received, especially during a time when rising costs made me feel like I was drowning. Having help with housing, essentials, and getting back on my feet has made it possible for me to rebuild our life with pride and hope.
