A little less than two years ago while pregnancy with her first son, Rachel fled the reserve she grew up on to find safety in Regina. Mato, who is now 16 months old is living with serious health complications and has spent much of his short life in the hospital, frequently travelling to and from Saskatoon for surgeries and appointments. As a young single mom, Rachel is navigating everything on her own. This holiday season, Rachel hopes for a future where Mato is healthy and she can further her education and gain employment in the childcare sector.
