Shirley grew up between Regina, Brandon, and Pheasant Rump Nakota Nation, carrying with her the values of community and perseverance. She moved to Regina to build stability for her family and has worked through many challenges, including childcare shortages, housing instability, and changes in employment. Despite these obstacles, she has remained a devoted mother who advocates strongly for her children. Each child brings unique strengths and needs, and Shirley supports them with patience, love, and determination. Shirley has faced the end of a long term relationship, resulting in her taking on parenting responsibilities on her own, continuing to push forward for her family’s well-being. She speaks of how proud she is of her children, and how all of them display pieces of her. Her story reflects resilience, hope, and a deep commitment to creating a better future for her children.
